A convenient way of carrying mountain bikes is draping them over the tailgate of a pickup truck, with the rear wheels and frame inside the bed and the front wheels hanging out the back. This is fine if you don't care about scratching up your truck…or your bikes, but if you're concerned about either you'll want to install some protection. The Gate Mate is constructed from heavy-duty vinyl with foam padding to provide the ultimate in protection for your truck and your bikes. It comes equipped with sturdy nylon straps, to ensure it will stay in place once installed. It also features integrated Knock Blocks at each end to prevent the bikes from sliding off the edge of the tailgate and causing damage, and a Handle Hood to allow access to the tailgate handle without removing the pad. The Gate Mate also has strap anchors that provide secure tie-down points for your bikes.

The Gate Mate Tailgate Pad is available in a 54" width for compact pickups and a 62" width for full size pickups. It comes with everything required for installation, including detailed instructions.
