Stromberg Carlson® - Replacement Tailgate Cover Plate for 4000 Series Tailgate

I found your company from another company I trade with all the time. Was not sure about you giving you my CARiD information over the phone. After I received my tailgate I was amazed. Since then I have given your company name and number to several friends who we're looking for part and accessories. Your delivery service. Was fantastic.

Solid steel (not like the hollow tubing found in others). Quality latch mechanism. Packaged Well for shipment.

This tailgate was a perfect fit and was very easy to install in about 10 minutes. It also looks great and seems to be made well. The only thing that I don't care for is it's inability to handle weight. It seems like it would be easy to alter the design to bolster weight handling capability from the factory. I am having additional support welded across the frame, and changing the cables.

It is a 1/2 higher than the rail of the truck.

This product is beyond fantastic. My tailgate was stolen at 1pm from parking lot while in Costco (unbelievable right?). Researched buying replacement tailgate (dealer and aftermarket), and they were so dang expensive. “Settled” on this product. Had I know it existed, I would have bought the day I got my new truck 4 years ago! The middle “cut out” is genius. Makes backing up in a truck a breeze because you can see! Such a clever design. Great quality, and the “slat openings” improve gas mileage (makes total sense to me, when a small amount of leaves etc would be In the back of my bed. They would tumble In a violet circle/vortex, as opposed to flying out even at 70 mph). Final bonus is I just love the look of it. So sleak. Price is simply unbelievable for what you get compared to other options. Installed an after market back up camera month I bought the truck and would have never needed it if I had gotten this tailgate. I simply can’t say enough good things about this product. Simply watch a YouTube video for 3 minutes before installing, and it’s a breeze.

Light weight, even if you back into it, just stand on center to straighten and put it back on truck.

It looks good on the tailgate. It provides privacy (mostly) when the tonneau cover is on. It is very light, however. Because the tailgate is such light quality and cannot be stood on, the insert is in the way of climbing into the truck box with the tailgate open. This is more an issue of the tailgate than the insert, but to do it over, I would have purchased the heavier duty tailgate.
