SteelCraft® - 5" STX400 Step Boards

When I obtained my 2019 Chevy it was a fleet rental from Enterprise, and I got a great deal on it. However! It came without some features that I know I would have gotten from the dealership, but, this blank canvas gave me the opportunity to improve my truck how I wanted and I started with the SteelCraft 5" Step Boards! They shipped and arrived quickly to my home, and the order was complete - no missing parts! They came with instructions that were easy to follow. Installation took me about an hour to an hour and a half and I feel they definitely improve the look of my truck overall! The shape of them is perfect as I typically wear either running shoes or ranch boots and I wanted boards that wouldn't risk slipping which is why I went for the rectangle shape instead of round. I don't feel like I'm going to slip on these, and I've even tested them when they were wet and so far so good! They've improved the overall look and personality of my truck, and provided safety and security! I'm a 5'5 woman and as much as I love jumping in and out of trucks, when you do it all day every day it can get a little tiring, so these step boards were the perfect addition! I'm very happy with the look, durability, and installation and I highly recommend these boards!

First of all, these look great on my 2020 Colorado Midnight Edition. Functionally, I like them. At 6'1", I don't absolutely need these to get into my truck comfortably. But they are nice to have, especially letting an 8 and 5 year old get in on their own. Installation was straight forward and the included instructions were perfectly sufficient to get you through the job. I'd give myself about 50% more time to complete, although a more proficient shade tree mechanic will likely get it done in the allotted time or less. I definitely recommend using a lift if you have access, but you could get it done without one. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 vs 5 stars was due to some damage when the product arrived. The mounting bolts are secured by inserting their heads into channels along the length of the step boards. One of my boards had a slight dent in the forward section that happened to pinch the channel. I was able to use a piece of hard plastic and a mallet to basically force the bolt head through the channel and reform the channel enough for the next bolt to slide through without issue. There was some slight damage to the finish on the channel, but since it is made of aluminum, I'm less concerned about corrosion and figure these will still be strong for a long time. I was a little concerned that the polymer steps would be slick when wet, but that hasn't been an issue. Would definitely recommend this product.

Good price, fast delivery and easy installation.

I bought this product for a 2017 2500 Duramax Diesel which has the DEF tank. It says that it works for this truck, but it does not. On the front passenger side the bracket for the running boards is about 2" low and short. The directions also so to drop the DEF tank. This isn't possible unless you take off the rocker panels. Luckily my neighbor is a machinist and is going to cut the bracket and reweld it to the right length. This is a very nice running board and easy to install on a truck without the DEF tank. I'm not sure why they didn't order a set of GM running boards and copy there brackets that fit without removing DEF tank. It took me 6-8 hrs to install because there's no room to put the front bracket on.

Running boards look great and were easy to install.

Instruction left a bit to be desired, but simply enough to figure out. Had to remove the old ones form 21 years ago as they were about to fall off. To remove old ones, you'll need a cutting torch! Or a cut-off wheel.

These steps were extremely easy to install, about 15 mins a side. Will say it worked out great to have a second person to hold them in place while getting bolts started. Coating on the steps looks very good which mine are black. Side steps aren’t for everyone but at the end of the day makes getting in and out of the truck easy.

The bars look great and only took about 2 hours to install. They are defiantly very sturdy and should stand up well.
