A mechanical fuel pump is designed to convey fuel from the fuel tank to the carburetor, where it's mixed with air and sent through the intake manifold to the cylinders for combustion. The pump is mounted to the side of the engine block and contains a diaphragm connected to a lever that is actuated by a lobe on the camshaft. When the diaphragm is pulled down by the lever, fuel is drawn into the pump and forced out of the pump outlet when the diaphragm spring returns the diaphragm to its original position. The most common reason for mechanical fuel pump replacement is leakage and diaphragm failure. This pump by Spectra Premium is designed to replace your damaged part and provide the same OE quality, fit, and performance. The component is performance endurance tested to ensure excellent operation and superior durability.
