Boot Plug Remover
Its good for engines that you have clear access to. Doesn't work well if plugs are in tight corners that are on angles.

Schley 88250
This tool set worked perfectly for removing the valve shims on my 2003 Tacoma 3.4L . I don't know why some reviewers seem to have trouble. It can be a little tricky to get the shim out once loose but a little shot of compressed air worked for me. I'm sure you could use a couple screwdrivers and fuss with it all day but for the money these are a no brainer even though I'll probably never use them again. Use the plier looking tool to push the lifter and shim down by closing it around the camshaft above the shim and rotating, then insert the long end of the other tool between the camshaft and the edge of the bucket to hold it down and remove the pliers. The shim is now free to be removed. Easy peasy. I don't see how anything could work better.
