The Saturn L-Series is a mid-size vehicle available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon and marketed from the 2000 to 2005 model years. The car was equipped with either a 2.2-liter I4 or 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine coupled with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. In general, the L-Series was a rather comfortable and powerful auto, but unfortunately, several issues with the engine, transmission, and tail lights were reported, and the company had to recall many vehicles in 2005. Most likely, such occurrences affected the level of sales, and Saturn decided to discontinue the car and supplant it with the new model, the Aura.

All the modern automobiles equipped with an internal combustion engine use different systems and parts responsible for the emissions control – several oxygen sensors, catalytic converter, crankcase and fuel tank ventilation systems, etc. Should any of them malfunctions, it will affect engine performance and lifespan of various parts.
