The first generation of the Saab 9-3 appeared on the market in 1998. The model was offered in the following options of body style: a two-door convertible and a three-/five-door door hatchback. The variety of engines included 2.0L B204 I4, 2.0L B205 I4, 2.0L B205R I4, 2.3L B235R I4 and 2.2L Turbodiesel I4 variants. A gearbox was offered in either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic variant. The second generation was presented to customers in 2002: station wagon and sedan replaced a hatchback body style. Both manual and automatic gearbox options were available, while the selection of engines was extended – mostly it consisted of turbocharged options (gasoline and diesel). The manufacture of the next generation was launched in 2013. It was equipped with a 2.0L 220HP B207R I4 engine and a six-speed gearbox. Production of the model was ceased after 2014.
