Racing Intercooler Hoses

To unlock maximum possible performance out of the engine, racers usually have their cars equipped with a turbocharger or supercharger. Both of them aim to increase the density of the intake air before it enters the intake manifold. As a result, engine cylinders receive more air/fuel mixture. The more mixture is burnt, the more power you get. The turbocharger compresses the air, thus its density decreases. However, its temperature increases. The intercooler is designed to cool it and raise the amount of oxygen in it. It is installed between the engine and turbocharger and is connected to them via specially designed hoses.

Typically, manufacturers use silicone, cast alloy, and etc. to build them. However, just like any other car parts, intercooler hoses are prone to wear and damage and require replacement now and then. The most common reason for replacing them is a leak. This results in a drop in the boost and therefore a loss of the airflow to the engine. Although it gets less air, the amount of fuel delivered to it won’t change causing the engine to run rich.
