Racepak LLC, together with its parent company, Competition Systems, Inc., was started back in 1984 by Ron Armstrong and Spencer Eisenbarth. Both co-founders were excellent engineers with a wealth of experience in electrical and mechanical fields, and both shared the same passion for motorsports. Ron and Spencer’s backgrounds have qualified them to develop different onboard data acquisition equipment, with the main task lying ahead being the production of data recorders that could survive in a fairly unfriendly environment of race vehicles.
That very first challenge became one of the initial goals that led to the foundation of Competition Systems, Inc. The ongoing Racepak’s success has enabled the expansion of CSI. During the years that followed suit, Armstrong and Eisenbarth have led CSI to a fairly strong presence in various kinds of motorsports. What is more important is that they have invested heavily into information / data acquisition technologies and have pre-positioned their company as a leader in its industry. In general, this helped to expand Racepak’s customer base so as to include original equipment manufacturers, industrial applications, testing facilities, and so on, as well as a wide range of land, water, and snow-based motorsports.
In present time, Racepak and its considerable engineering and production staff are housed in a 12,000 square foot production facility in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Beginning with the original data recorder, the company’s line of products has expanded to include a sizeable variety of loggers, Racepak gauges, software, Racepak dash displays, Racepak sensors as well as auxiliary equipment like Racepak mount brackets, all designed with one purpose in mind - to gather data. The company continues to follow the same regulations and requirements that have placed the company on top of the information / data acquisition industry. The company’s unchanging goal remains to offer efficient, reliable, state-of-the-art data recorders at affordable to their customers prices.
