The Grand Prix was an automobile that was manufactured and distributed by Pontiac beginning 1962 to 2008. The vehicle was first marketed as part of Pontiac's full-size automobile lineup in 1962. The Pontiac Grand Prix name was also used for automobiles in the personal luxury niche, and the mid-size offering, placed somewhere below the larger Bonneville in the vehicle lineup. The Pontiac Grand Prix was eventually succeeded by the G8 during 2008–2009. Although, it must be added that the manufacturing of the G8 was already over in June 2009. GM has discontinued the Pontiac brand in 2010 due in part to GM's reorganization plans.
