The Plymouth GTX was launched in 1967 as a premium version of the Belvedere. This powerful muscle car carrying the Plymouth badge came equipped with a standard 440 cu in (7.2 L) V8 known as the "Super Commando 440", which was able to develop up to 375 hp, and with an optional 426 cu in (7.0 L) V8 motor that cost extra $546 and was rated at 350 hp. The latter wasn’t offered for the next versions of the GTX launched in 1968 and 1971 respectively. The standard transmission was a 3-speed automatic TorqueFlite specially tuned for maximum acceleration, while the optional one was a 4-speed manual. The total number of built GTXs is 44,178 units, but nowadays, the car is rather rare.
