Replacement Driveshaft U-Joint by Omix-ADA®. U-joints can fail from lack of lubrication or abnormal operating conditions, which could overload the joints or cause them to operate at incorrect angles. Failure symptoms include binding, clunking and squeaking. If your U-joints are in need of replacement, Omix-ADA has the premium greasable replacements that will get you back on the road. This U-Joint Kit includes the grease zerk and new mounting clips.
Lack of lubrication is the most common cause for U-Joint failure because most U-Joints are not serviceable from the factory. As the lubricant disappears, the needle bearings wear away, causing squeaks from metal-to-metal contact and/or clunks from excessive clearance between the cross and bearing cups. In extreme cases the U-Joints can bind and cause a vibration at low speed.
U-Joints can also fail from abuse. Changing from drive to reverse before the vehicle comes to a full stop can excessively strain or break a U-Joint. Operating at angles for which the joint was not designed, such as when the ride height is changed by lifting or overloading the vehicle, can also cause joint failure.
