The Oldsmobile Alero was a mid-size automobile manufactured from 1998 to 2004. Available as a two-door coupe and four-door sedan and having a more modern, streamlined design, the Alero was meant to supersede the aging Achieva and Cutlass models. Featuring a transverse front-engine layout and front-wheel drive, the vehicle was equipped with a rather powerful 2.2L I4, 2.4L I4, or 3.4L V6 motor. Such powerplants endowed the car with good driving characteristics, but still, its sales did not help the company to survive: the Alero became one of the last vehicles produced by the Oldsmobile division, as it was defunct in 2004.
