Unlike the Pathfinder, that was also occupying the position in a mid-size SUV market segment, the Murano obtained a unibody chassis (identical to the one used in the Nissan Maxima) and borrowed most mechanicals from Nissan’s car models. It was also reflected in the vehicle’s appearance, which was not as boxy and rough as in the contemporary Pathfinder. Outside America, the Murano was officially available only until 2007, being in its first generation. Nowadays, the Murano is offered on certain markets in its third generation that appeared in 2014. It still shares a lot with Nissan’s Maxima and Altima models, possessing, however, its own unique body shell.
