This compact MPV was offered in a single body style – 5-door minivan. It received a front-wheel drive layout and a four-wheel drive one was optional. To enhance the capacity of the passenger compartment, the Nissan Multi received a folding rear seat and rear passenger sliding doors on both sides. Initially the model was unveiled with a 1.5 L I4 engine but shortly came 1.8L and 2.0L motors (for certain markets only). The production run of the Nissan Multi ended in 1988.
