Unveiled in 1989 for the 1990 model year, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was designed as a direct successor to the Mitsubishi Cordia. The vehicle debuted in a two-door liftback body configuration, but in 1996 the convertible version was added to the lineup. The Eclipse has undergone four generations. Thanks to a close partnership with Chrysler, the first three generations of the Eclipse shared the platform with some other models – the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser. The fourth generation of the Eclipse is based on the PS platform by Mitsubishi.
