Obviously, it has something to do with the full-size Mercury automobile of 1952-1974, with its tendency towards high-end rating, which it had originally – its 1950 prototype was an ambitious leather&wool-trimmed coupe. V8 capable of 410 hp. The 1964 entry-level version was, perhaps, the most aesthetically pleasing. In 2004-2007, a minivan was named “Monterey”, hinting at the positive features of its predecessor.
