The Mercury Montego was a name applied to three different automobiles produced and sold by Ford. Throughout their production, the Montegos were offered in many body styles, including a four-door sedan, four-door station wagon, two-door hardtop, and two-door convertible. The vehicles were first produced in 1967 in Canada, while being a part of the Mercury-built Meteor line. Beginning with 1976, several designs of the Montego were changed, and the name disappeared while giving way to the Mercury Cougar’s expanding lineup. During 2005-2007, the Montego nameplate was resurrected for a full-size automobile, this time, a rebadged model of the Ford Five Hundred.
