The Mercury Colony Park, a full-size four-door station wagon, was introduced to customers in 1957. The model was designed to replace the Mercury Monterey station wagon version on the market. It was offered in six generations. The first version was equipped with a 6.0L V8, 6.3L V8 or a 7.0L V8 engine. A transmission was available in two options: a three-speed manual or a three-speed Merc-O-Matic automatic. The second generation appeared in 1959: a 6.0L V8 engine and a manual gearbox were dropped. The third iteration shared the chassis and body with Ford models of that time. The fourth one entered the market in 1965 – this model offered either a 6.4L V8 or a 6.7L V8 power plant. The fifth generation’s choice of engines experienced certain changes: 5.8L V8, 6.6L V8 and 7.5L V8 variants were available. The last, sixth, generation was launched in 1979 and this version was powered with a 4.9L V8 or a 5.8L V8 engine.
