Mercedes S Class Performance Air Intake Systems

The Mercedes S Class is a series of full-size luxury automobiles marketed in the US since 1975. The W116 line of these full-size sedans launched in the early 1970s was the first model lineup officially named the S Class. For its second generation (1979-1992) the automobile appeared as the W126 series, featuring enhanced aerodynamic design and a choice of l6, V8 and turbodiesel power units. In 1991, the W216 line gave way to the W140. The new generation S Class came in four trim levels, including the S320, S420, S500 and S600. The S320 model was powered by an l6 power unit rated for 228 hp, the S420 came with a V8 making 275 hp, the S500 could be had with a 315 horsepower V8, while the most powerful S600 sported a V12 making about 400 hp. All the engines could be mated to either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual gearbox. For its following generation, the S Class moved to the W221 platform and featured upgraded powertrain options. Throughout its lifetime, the S Class has always been a real luxury icon – stylish and impressive inside and out.
