Originally, this model featured either a four-wheel or front-wheel drive layout and was equipped with one of the following engine options: a 2.0L YF I4 capable of producing 130 horsepower or a 3.0L AJ V6 good for 200 horsepower. But for the 2008 model year, the Mazda Tribute was updated: a 2.0L I4 motor left the lineup, while a 2.3L MZR I4 was added instead. The interior of the model went through significant changes – it received new components and materials. One year later, a 2.3L I4 engine was replaced by a 2.5L MZR I4, and in spite of higher swept volume and horsepower, its fuel economy was increased by 1 mpg. The production of the Mazda Tribute was ceased in 2011.
