As most of you may already know, the Zephyr name was replaced by the MKZ nameplate a year after the car was released, even though they are indeed built on the same “Ford CD3” platform. Your vehicle's multi-purpose 6-speed automatic transmission derives its power from the l4 or V6 engine under the hood, with blinding 0-60 times and 21st Century fuel efficiency. As time wears on, parts of the fuel system can start to degrade. Throttle body gaskets, injector o-rings, fuel pumps, various sensors – these are all parts that wear due to usage, engine heat, and extreme cold weather environments.
If your Zephyr has been running rough lately, suspect the fuel system components immediately. A faulty fuel pump, leaky gasket or o-ring will cause intermittent starting and stalling, as well as a rough idle. Genuine has many of the parts you'll need to fix your fuel delivery system, including the water temp sensor, which is a component that's prone to failure after 80,000 or less miles, and provides the feedback needed for your car's computer to control the rate that fuel flows to the engine. They also make all the major gaskets you'll need to update your aging fuel system, including the throttle body gasket.
