The Lincoln Aviator is a mid-size luxury sport-utility vehicle that was manufactured and marketed by the Lincoln division of the Ford Motor Company from 2003 to 2005. The truck, overall, was simply a badge-engineered higher-trim model of the Ford Explorer / Mercury Mountaineer, produced at roughly about the same time. The Lincoln Aviator was offered in a five-door SUV body style, and a front-engine, rear- / all-wheel-drive layout. The Aviator came equipped with a 4.6L 32 valve DOHC V8 engine, and a five-speed overdrive transmission. The Lincoln Aviator was a competitor to the Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GL450 and Toyota Sequoia.
