Product Details
Driveshaft Safety Loop by Lakewood®. Lakewood offers safety assemblies for the front and rear ends of your driveshaft to confine them in place should breakage occur to the shaft or U-joint couplings. Prevents possible property damage and injury at high rpms. Heavy gauge steel provides racetrack-grade strength and rigidity, and zinc plating effectively resists corrosion, scrapes, and oil-based contaminants. Driveshaft safety loops are required by all major racing sanctioning bodies, and Lakewood products meet all approval standards.
While a broken driveshaft that turns your vehicle into an immobile, dead hulk at the strip is usually no more than a great embarrassment and inconvenience, pros know there's a good reason all major racing sanctioning bodies require Driveshaft Safety Loop assemblies. Should your driveshaft break at the front point at high rpms, it can damage other components on the car and even launch shrapnel at bystanders. The safety loop confines the front driveshaft end in place in the event of a breakage, caging it so it cannot escape. As effective as it is, it's also equally easy to install. The upper part of the Loop bracework is designed to mount between your vehicle's OEM transmission cross member brace and the vehicle frame.
After drilling to install spacer bars installed between the body and the cross member, insert the Safety Loop bracework under the transmission crossmember, bolt both back in place, then bolt on the bottom cage piece around the driveshaft. Hardware included in the kit is Grade 8 to provide the highest strength. Because Lakewood believes products that do not last are not worth building, they take every effort to ensure all components will maintain their integrity over a long period of time. Reinforced, heavy-gauge steel provides the strength and rigidity needed to stand up to the highest stress levels you can put it through, and a zinc plated finish provides a durable coating that is resistant to corrosion, oil-based contaminants, and scrapes.
