The Jeep Gladiator, originally introduced in 1962, was given the “J-Series” nameplate in 1971, after AMC acquired Kaiser Jeep in 1970. It was a sturdy full-size pickup truck, originally offered in three different models, the J2000, the J3000 (dropped in 1971) and the J4000. In 1974, the J-Series received some major technological improvements, for instance, larger brakes, while the cutting-edge full-time 4-wheel drive system Quadra-Trac, introduced the previous year, was made available on all versions. The models were also renamed J-10 and J-20. Mechanical improvements and styling refreshments followed through the years, updating the Jeep J-Series to keep pace with the times. In 1988, the series was eventually discontinued.
