The production of the Jeep Commando started in 1966 and ended in 1973. It was a rare sport utility vehicle built as a rival to the Ford Bronco, the Toyota Land Cruiser and the International Scout. A 3.7L V6 power unit with an output of 160 hp was an option. In 1971, three new larger engines became available: a 3.8L and a 4.2L I6 as well as a 5.0L V8 generating 210 hp. In 1972, the latter was decreased to produce 150 hp.
