The V6 or V8 engine that sits under the hood of your Jeep Commander represents years of technological innovation from the Dodge/Chrysler company. The “Powertech” V6 and V8, along with the powerful “Hemi” V8 are fed by a complex fuel delivery system that help them produce gobs of horsepower and torque, while still affording you great fuel economy. These systems run based off of input from your temperature, air, and manifold pressure sensor, and depend greatly on the high pressure fuel lines and intake manifold's fuel rail to start and run efficiently.
The fuel pump is driven by an electric current provided from the engine-management-system, and it's important to change it at least once or twice during the life of the vehicle to ensure the engine isn't starved for fuel (which can cause over-heating and consequent engine damage.) Bosch is a trusted company that makes quality, affordable OE fuel pumps and offers a generous 30-day warranty on all purchases. The entire fuel system should be inspected yearly to ensure the fuel cap, TPS, water temp sensor, and pressure seals are all in good working order. You'll find a large selection of these and other maintenance items from companies like: Forecast, Mahle, Delphi, and FAE.
