Product Details

RD Series Cold Air Intake System by Injen®. The RD Series is made for the enthusiast who wants improved mid-range power. This cold air system positions a high-flow air filter behind the bumper, where it can take in cooler, denser air. The cool air then flows to the engine through a fee-flowing aluminum alloy intake tube. Cooler air contains more oxygen for more complete combustion and more horsepower.

It's a well known fact that cooler, denser air contains more oxygen, and more oxygen in your engine's air intake charge means better combustion and more power. Hot air contains fewer oxygen molecules, and if your engine is fed hot air there will be less oxygen and therefore less power. Yet that's exactly what your engine gets with the factory air intake system! The solution to this problem is to install an Injen RD Series Cold Air Intake System.

Injen starts the power improvement process by positioning an Injen High Performance air filter behind the front bumper. Here, this free-flowing filter can take in the coolest air possible and funnel it through smooth, mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum alloy tubing. Injen designs and repeatedly tests its systems for each application to make sure they're the least restrictive, all the way to the throttle body. So, instead of power-robbing hot air squeezing through a restrictive air filter and intake duct, your engine is taking in huge quantities of cool air surging through free-flowing tubing. The result is increased horsepower and torque, and improved performance you can feel!

The RD system is carefully engineered, with CNC machined brackets and adapters, to ensure an exact fit. Installation can be accomplished with simple hand tools and everything necessary for installation is supplied, including comprehensive instructions. During extreme weather conditions, this system can be converted to a Short Ram air intake system by removing the outer air intake tube and reinstalling the air filter on the inner tube. The RD Series Cold Air Intake System is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Awesome and Easy!
I should have done this a long time ago! During hard acceleration is when it is most noticeable. I can definitely hear a roar in my 2.3L Mazda 3! I also like when Im sitting at idle and I hit the throttle I can hear the throttlebody's butterfly opening up to let the sudden mass of air into the engine.

Easy Install and Slight Power Bonus
This was super easy to install, just take out the old airbox stuff and put in the new stuff. Don't expect crazy amounts of power though, it is only an air intake. However, I noticed a slight boost in power mainly in the low rpm range. It also adds a low pitched humming noise when accelerating which is an added bonus.

Needs Improvement On Fitments
Looks good, sounds good but the things i did not like are not proper fitment for my 2004 Infiniti g35 sedan; pipe that connects to TB cannot be bolted down because where they put the hole on the mounting bracket exceeds the mounting hole on the engine so because of that it rattles; looks like i'll have to make my own hole. Another thing is that the filter hits my wheel well not a big deal but still thought i should put it out there. Overall though i like it.

Performance And Looks
I'm working on my BMW, its my first foreign car so naturally i'm a little clumsy at my first attempts. The instructions provided, the look upon finish, and the tangible results i can say beyond a doubt i couldn't have bought a better product from a better supplier.

Sure Looks Better Than My Old One!
Sure looks better than my old one! I guess it's working fine. I had to also get a catalytic converter in order to make my New York car smog proof certified in California.

Cold Air Intake
So this product is stated on CARiD as a cold air intake for a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. That is a false statement. If you want the right sized pipe for a 2005 JETTA get the other series or a short ram. I had to buy separated hoses for the charcoal sensor and mass airflow sensor and they sent me the wrong sized hydro shield so that had to get zip tied on for the time being. Check engine light did come on and didn't go off. Had to clear the code. On the bright side, the intake gives the car an amazing throaty sound when you accelerate hard. The best sound is around 2000 and 4000 RPM.
