You want less restriction and improved airflow to your engine for increased power and better fuel economy, but don't get these benefits from your air filter at the expense of engine protection. If your old filter has seen too many cleanings or you’d just like to upgrade, get an Injen air filter.
The Injen air filter is designed with a built-in velocity stack for added performance. Injen calculates each filter's mesh and pleat count for the specific application during filter development, for optimum airflow. The base and top are made from urethane, to prevent heat soak. And the premium oiled cotton gauze filter media provides superior filtration.
Your Injen air filter should remain effective for 30,000 to 40,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. When used with a cold air intake system the filter should be checked every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. When cleaning is necessary, Spray the filter with Injen air filter cleaner until thoroughly saturated, then let the filter soak for about 10 minutes. Rinse the filter from the inside out with low-pressure warm water from the tap or a hose until the water runs clear. Do not use high-pressure water or allow the filter to soak. Let the filter dry naturally.
Finally, when the filter is completely dry, apply Injen air filter oil to the top of each filter pleat, then allow it to set for 20 minutes to wick throughout the filter media. If light spots appear, touch up those areas. The colored dye in the filter oil allows you to easily see where the oil has saturated the filter, eliminating the possibility of over-oiling the filter.
