The Infiniti M45 was first developed at Nissan's Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan in 2000. The vehicle was produced in Tochigi, Japan. The automobile was based on the Y34-series Nissan Cedric / Gloria. On the contrary to several other Japanese autos which were offered only with V6 motors, the M45 was engineered with Nissan's VK45DE V8 that had an output of 340 hp, which it was sharing with Infiniti's flagship model, the Q45. Moreover, the M45 had a totally different instrument panel, which was somewhat alike to the F50 Q45. Among other differences was a rear multi-link suspension construction.
