Secured in place between the two legs of an A-shaped control arm, the inner arm shaft serves to connect the control arm itself to the frame of the vehicle. Also known as control arm cross shafts, an inner arm shaft is the component that’s used to bolt a whole control arm to the vehicle chassis on some make and models. Both ends of the shaft are pressed into place inside of round eyehole bushings located on each leg of the control arm. During up-and-down wheel travel, the inner shaft rotates within the eyehole bushings, which typically remain lubricated via grease fittings.
