An ignition coil is an induction coil that transforms the 12-volt current from a battery into the high-voltage current required by spark plugs to ignite the air/fuel mixture. The ignition coil is composed of a primary coil and a secondary coil, each with a different number of wire turns. The primary coil generates a magnetic field with the battery voltage and by using this magnetic field, the secondary coil will have tens of thousands of volts of induced current. A defective ignition coil may lead to unstable idling, multiple misfires, engine shutoff, stalling, difficulty starting the engine, and a possible no-start condition. Failures occur due to age and if the insulation becomes deteriorated.
The Hitachi ignition coils are designed not only to ensure superior electrical performance, but also guarantee unmatched lifespan. Each part is precisely machined to reduce current fluctuation and ensure maximum durability. Gold plated connections allow for superior corrosion protection and extended service life. Constructed to provide efficient spark energy delivery, this ignition coil ensures lower fuel consumption and smooth engine operation.
