The fourth-generation Pontiac Firebird was released at the same time as it sister Chevrolet Camaro, although the Firebird had, arguably, the more futuristic styling. Under the skins it was quite conventional however, with a range of V6 and V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, although it did also have anti-lock brakes and some composite bodywork. Come 1995, standard Firebirds were only available with a 3.8-liter V76 engine, while Formula and Trans Am Firebirds had a 5.7-liter V8 (lifted from the Chevrolet Corvette). Throughout its life the Firebird was tweaked to have greater performance, better handling, and more luxurious interiors. In 1998, the car was given a significant facelift, disc brakes all round and traction control for all models. Haynes Manuals Pontiac Firebird repair manual will be able to help whether you're servicing or repairing your car.
