HVAC Blower Motor Control Module (1712163) by gpd®. The electrical switch is designed to give feedback to the engine management system. The ECM controls the A/C system on modern vehicles. In earlier vehicles, they are used to directly turn the compressor off to avoid compressor failure.

Pleasantly Surprised
My blower motor in my 2015 Subaru Brz started making the common worn bearing sound and with 134,000 miles I decided to find a replacement. After googling the OEM replacement and seeing a list price for almost $200.00 I quickly looked for aftermarket options. When I came across the gpd HVAC Blower Motor on CARID I was a little turned away with a price of about $30.00 but I figured I would give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. This blower motor feels very well made, is the same weight, and is whisper quiet. I will write a follow up update in a few months to see if it holds up but for the money you can't beat it.
