The GMC Safari is a mid-size van marketed by the GMC division of GM between 1985 and 2005. For its first generation, the Safari was available in a three-door van body style and could accommodate up to eight passengers. Initially, the vehicle was only available in rear-wheel drive, while after 1990 the Safari could also be had with an all-wheel drive layout. As for the powertrain, the 1985-1995 models of the Safari were outfitted with a 2.5L I4 or a 4.3L V6. Both engines were directed through a four-speed automatic transmission. For its second generation, the Safari received a substantial facelift, from 1995 onwards featuring an extended nose and being available only in a long-body configuration. The GMC Safari was discontinued by the automaker in 2005.
