The GMC Envoy was an SUV, originally launched in 1998 as an upscale version of the Jimmy, offering therefore several features not available on the standard model. In 2000 the GMC Jimmy was dropped, and after two years the Envoy became a series itself, replacing the Jimmy in the brand's fleet. The new Envoy was offered in two different body styles: a standard five-passenger version and an extended seven-passenger trim, which also provided a more spacious cargo area. In 2005 the deluxe Denali version was added to the lineup, featuring upgraded and refined interior as well as some distinctive detail cues. The GMC Envoy was dropped in 2009.
