Garrett Turbochargers

The foremost name in turbocharger technology, Garrett was founded in 1936 in a small one-room office in Los Angeles. Today it is a world class manufacturer that supplies global engine and car makers with turbochargers and related forced induction systems and parts. Garrett turbos are installed in the engines of Ford, Saab, Audi, BMW, Volkswagen vehicles, etc. Top race teams in 24 Hours of Le Mans, World Rally, CART rely on Garret's boosting technology.

Decade after decade, Garrett never stopped revolutionizing the industry. It powered America's first turbocharged vehicle (the Caterpillar D9 crawler tractor) in 1955 and the first mass-produced turbocharged car (the Oldsmobile Jetfire Rocket) in 1962. The company pioneered Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) technology that drastically improved the performance of diesel engines and implemented the use of dual-ball bearing turbos in high volume applications.

Why Garrett? You can't go wrong with the largest supplier of turbochargers trusted by the leading names in the automotive industry for the development of turbo technologies. If you want to improve the engine efficiency and literally transform your vehicle's performance curve, you can rely on the biggest innovator in the engine boosting industry which powered many race cars to victory, including the first turbocharged car that won in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. More than 30,000 turbos come off their assembly line every day and each of them, from Garrett GT28 to Garrett GT35, features the same proven boosting expertise.

The manufacturer subjects turbos to severe OE qualification tests to make sure that they have a sturdy design and deliver safe and reliable performance. For instance, they undergo a 1,000-hour durability test that is run on-engine, during which even some engines die, but not a Garrett turbo! During a 200-hour thermal cycle test, extreme changes from low temperature to glowing red are made every 10 minutes, ensuring there are no distortion or cracking of the turbine housing. A battery of other quality control procedures is performed to prove that with a Garrett turbocharger, you get the best value for the money.
