The Ford Excursion first rolled off the line in 2000. This full-size heavy duty SUV was targeted exclusively at the automotive market of North America and wasn't marketed overseas. The Excursion is related to the Ford Super Duty and is one of the largest vehicles in Ford’s lineup of full-size trucks. Highly credited for its outstanding towing capacity and spacious cab and cargo areas, this super-sized SUV gained great popularity on the market. A robust 5.4L V8 with an output of 255 hp was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission; it was a standard powertrain combination for the 2000-2005 model years of the Excursion. 6.8L V10, 6.0L and 7.3L turbodiesel V8 engines were offered optionally. In 2005, the production of this full-size SUV was discontinued and the Excursion was substituted with an even larger Expedition EL/Max.
