You are starting the year off the right way and to that effect have just purchased a new Ford Edge. It sure will come in handy to help pull the horse trailer, boat, and the camper that everyone loves sleeping in. There is just one small problem though - there is no hitch on the rear of the vehicle. Before getting all stressed out think about the weight of each item that will be getting pulled, consider getting a trailer hitch. You need not call the dealership and ask what the towing capacity of your Ford Edge is. Just open the glove box and look at the manual that accompanied the vehicle. It will tell you the maximum weight which can be safely pulled with the beautiful Edge. Once the correct weight is known you need to decide which class of Ford Edge trailer hitches you should consider.
When looking at the various types of Ford Edge trailer hitches at CARiD, you will quickly discover there are five different classes into which this product is categorized. If pulling a camper, which usually weighs around 2,000 lbs, you need a Class I hitch. If the trailer is holding a power boat that weighs no more then 3,500 lbs then get a Class II hitch. For heavier loads, there are stronger hitches that can handle the weight with ease. Say you need to move some horses and everything weighs right around 5,000 lbs, then for this you will need a Class III hitch. For a big camper that does not exceed 10,000 lbs the hitch needs to be a Class IV. When traveling you might want to tow another car around that uses less gas.
