Installation
Forget everything you know about folding covers and get ready to explore one of the best-selling folding covers on the market. The key to success of the Trifecta cover is that it has more winning features than any other tonno offered by Extang. First off, it features easy-to-install and convenient-to-use tri-fold design. It comes completely pre-assembled in one box. You only center it on the truck bed and engage four clamps. You'll need no tools and there will be no drilling involved, so the whole process will take up to 5 minutes. In fact, it'll take you longer to take the cover out of the box than to install it. When the cover is not needed, you can either fold it at the cab and secure with the built-in heavy-duty Hold-Tite™ straps and snaps or remove it.
Another advantage of this cover is that it's designed to fit your truck bed even if you already have a toolbox installed. It can accommodate any standard toolbox (18'' – 20'' wide) no matter what brand, and the L-Channel sealing will provide a water-tight seal against the toolbox. The anodized L-shaped rail incorporates a box rail on the underside for rigidity and a closed-cell d-lip seal to seal the gap between the cover and the toolbox. You simply center the L-rail on the truck bed and tighten the T-handle clamp.
To ensure superior strength, the cover uses commercial-grade rails and I-Beam Monster Bows that are secured with multiple reinforcements using zinc dichromate, aluminum braces. There are also 45° steel corner brackets that secure the frame and make the construction even more stable. The all-black frame is topped by double-layered black vinyl, so your truck will look great whether the cover is folded or not. The tight-fitting tarp comes with anti-curl corners for the cover to look neat, always. The double pivot MaxHinges are made of ultra-strong glass-filled nylon and come with protective padding for the cover not to scratch the delicate paint job of your truck. To make sure that neither water nor dust will be able to get inside the truck and for a tight, no-gap fit, the cover is reliably sealed using pro-grade labyrinth WeatherTuff™ rail seals.
Remember the clams that must be engaged to secure this tonneau to the truck bed? That's Extang's clamping system: two SafetyKlamps and two SpeedKlamps. The SafetyKlamps are glass-filled nylon constructed to serve you for years to come, and they are engineered to secure the cab section. You can do that by simply hand-tightening the clamps with the built-in heavy-duty handle. The SpeedKlamps are made from the same material and are located at the rear tail section. They feature exclusive spring-action technology. When you need to get instant access to your cargo, you can operate the clamps using a spring-action handle.
