Product Details

Ultimax OE Replacement Handbrake Pads by EBC®. Get the fit and lasting quality of original equipment without paying 100% markup that dealers charge for OEM parts. EBC replacement brake pads are blended with fewer metallic compounds to extend life of brake rotors by up to 50 percent. Pre-chamfered edges reduce squealing and ensure more effective braking against worn brake rotors.

Installation

EBC Ultimax™ OEM Replacement Brake Pads are designed to match the exact dimensions of original equipment with extremely tight tolerances to ensure proper fit, even wear, and absence of rattles and squeaks. A patented low-metallic aramid compound is made with DuPont Kevlar and Twaron composites to reduce the amount of steel wool necessary, so these pads cause far less abrasive wear on rotors without compromising brake pad efficiency or longevity. In government R90 tests of replacement brake components, EBC pads have shown to deliver equivalent performance, bedding, cold temperature operation, and speed sensitivity when compared to original manufacturer parts. EBC's aramid material also ensures the pads are soft enough to avoid brake squeal, but not so soft that pad longevity becomes compromised. On some German vehicles, you may even see longer life with EBC pads than the original factory brake pads provided.

If you're installing Ultimax™ OEM Replacement Brake Pads with new brake rotors, you'll find down the road when the time comes to replace the pads again, rotors will still be usable enough to last through another set of brake pads. And if you are installing EBC pads without replacing rotors, pre-chamfered pad edges will mate perfectly against the grooves and lips that normally form on the rotor surfaces, so the meat of the pad makes contact against the rotor center where it counts. These pads also feature a red top layer coating designed to scour glaze and hot spots off worn brake rotors during the break-in process. As it does that, the coating also serves to provide a higher level of grip to counteract low friction levels that exist before bedding is complete. Built-in shims ensure any high-frequency vibration is absorbed rather than transferred as squealing noise, even under the most extreme weather conditions

Great Upgrade!
Was running OEM brakes and decided to upgrade to these. These noticeably have more grip and more stopping power when braking. These make a great addition to any performance streetcar!

Great Pads but
Pads don't come with hardware or brake grease. Also didn't have the brake clip holes so I drilled those holes in to be able to use the pads effectively. Otherwise than that could immediately tell the difference in braking performance and has pretty good initial bite.

Huge Fade and Pulsation
A bit disappointed that the pads were unable to withstand an HPDE event. During the 5th lap of each session, I started feeling pedal fade and pulsation. The only way I wad able to take advantage of the event was to drive at 80% of my cars capabilities. I had previously used blue stuff on the fears but they didn't last more than 15k miles. Red stuff pads, I have these on the front and rear of my ST, do not perform as advertised.

Squiling like a Pig
Had these breaks for 10k miles, finally tired of hearing them.

Redstuff Works Good
The EBC Redstuff Ceramics work good, not great. Long story short I had installed Hawk Ceramic pads on front and back about 5 months ago. But with the Hawks I noticed when traveling at speeds in triple digit you have to be careful not to glaze them over by slowly braking when heated up. And since I was entering a road race. I ordered both Yellowstuff (for the race) and after the race wanted to try out EBC Redstuff. Reasons being the sound of regular pads on RS-7 and amount of dust the oversized large calipered brakes produce is awful. I am so far happy with the EBC Red's except that they produce a lot more dust on my wheels than did the Hawk's. My wheels would stay clean for about week with Hawks. I pretty much have to clean the wheels daily or every other day with the Red's. The one test I have yet to perform is the high speed braking, Hawk's weren't up to the challenge for back to back 1/4 runs at 130 mph, curious to find out if EBC are. Would I recommend these yes, just prepare to clean wheels often. (still not as bad as a regular racing pad by a longshot, along with not ever squealing to a stop.)

The Brake Pads Leave So Much Dust
The pads as mentioned above are not low dust if anything they produce the most dust of any brakes I have ever owned. Even the major box automotive shop brand ones don't produce this much dust.
