Product Details

RP-X™ Racing Brake Pads by EBC®. EBC Racings RP-X compound is an ultra-high performance track and race pad designed for performance vehicles driven hard on track and for dedicated race cars. RP-X has a very stable friction coefficient of 0.55 mu up to and beyond 850 C, making it an excellent performer for even the most demanding vehicle applications.

Installation

RP-X also has a high friction level from cold, requiring no warmup to achieve maximum braking effect which makes this material well suited for sprint race and hill climb events. Although RP-X is not R90 homologated for use on the public roads in EU member states, the fact this material possesses excellent cold performance means RP-X can be safely used for driving to and from motorsport events where local laws permit. EBC Racing does however emphasize that RP-X has been developed for peak on-track performance, meaning higher levels of brake dust and brake noise should be expected. RP-X has comparable disc wear to many other popular track and race materials, however RP-X disc wear is considerably greater than EBC Racings other track pad RP-1 which results in high levels of brake dust. Compared to RP-1, RP-X has a 25 per cent increase in friction coefficient across its working temperature range with a much more positive initial bite. This characteristic potentially makes RP-X more suitable on heavy or inherently under-served vehicles. For light-medium weight vehicles, cars with non EBC Big Brake Kits fitted, or vehicles with no ABS, the less fierce nature of EBC Racings other track material RP-1 may be preferable.

The Red Stuff
Ordered the brakes and they were delivered in a timely manner (within the week). Had them istalled and they are great!!!! Don't know why I took so long to use these. The low dust is great!!!! My car's rims stay clean longer. Good feeling. Thanks for having them availible and sending them out so quick!!!

Great Upgrade!
Was running OEM brakes and decided to upgrade to these. These noticeably have more grip and more stopping power when braking. These make a great addition to any performance streetcar!

Great Pads but
Pads don't come with hardware or brake grease. Also didn't have the brake clip holes so I drilled those holes in to be able to use the pads effectively. Otherwise than that could immediately tell the difference in braking performance and has pretty good initial bite.

Huge Fade and Pulsation
A bit disappointed that the pads were unable to withstand an HPDE event. During the 5th lap of each session, I started feeling pedal fade and pulsation. The only way I wad able to take advantage of the event was to drive at 80% of my cars capabilities. I had previously used blue stuff on the fears but they didn't last more than 15k miles. Red stuff pads, I have these on the front and rear of my ST, do not perform as advertised.

Redstuff Works Good
The EBC Redstuff Ceramics work good, not great. Long story short I had installed Hawk Ceramic pads on front and back about 5 months ago. But with the Hawks I noticed when traveling at speeds in triple digit you have to be careful not to glaze them over by slowly braking when heated up. And since I was entering a road race. I ordered both Yellowstuff (for the race) and after the race wanted to try out EBC Redstuff. Reasons being the sound of regular pads on RS-7 and amount of dust the oversized large calipered brakes produce is awful. I am so far happy with the EBC Red's except that they produce a lot more dust on my wheels than did the Hawk's. My wheels would stay clean for about week with Hawks. I pretty much have to clean the wheels daily or every other day with the Red's. The one test I have yet to perform is the high speed braking, Hawk's weren't up to the challenge for back to back 1/4 runs at 130 mph, curious to find out if EBC are. Would I recommend these yes, just prepare to clean wheels often. (still not as bad as a regular racing pad by a longshot, along with not ever squealing to a stop.)

The Brake Pads Leave So Much Dust
The pads as mentioned above are not low dust if anything they produce the most dust of any brakes I have ever owned. Even the major box automotive shop brand ones don't produce this much dust.
