Driving at night on the street can be challenging, but at least you have the benefit of an occasional street light and the lights from other cars to help you stay on track. Off-roading across the desert or down a wooded trail at night is far more treacherous, because besides the moon on a clear night, the only light you have is what you bring along. And that light better be bright enough to keep you out of danger and tough enough to withstand abuse. Our Off-Road Auxiliary/Driving Lights deliver brilliant light that turns night into day, and they’re rugged enough to handle the harshest terrain.
The Off-Road Auxiliary/Driving Lights you’ll find on our digital shelves have the specialized bulbs, reflectors, and lenses to create the intense illumination you need to avoid obstacles when it’s pitch black, and the rugged housings and mounts to handle the worst vibration and shock that the landscape can dish out. They’re available in a wide range of shapes, sizes, styles, and power levels, with halogen, LED, and HID bulbs, and with specialized light beams that will increase your visibility both near and far, so you can safely navigate even the most difficult terrain.
Our selection of lamps project beams that put light exactly where you need to see, whether it’s far into the distance, right in front of you or to the sides of your rig. Driving lights are designed to supplement your high beam headlights, and their beam pattern and increased power will help you see further ahead. Spot beams, also called Pencil beams, have tighter, more focused beams that are great for visibility far into the distance. Flood lights have a beam pattern that creates a large area of light, so they’re perfect when a wide open area needs to be illuminated. Our Combo beams include spot and flood beams in the same housing, so you have the illumination needed for any situation. Plus, most lights can be adjusted for precisely directed light.
Along with a choice of beam patterns, you can also choose from a selection of bulb types with various luminous intensities. We have traditional halogen lights with bulbs in a range of wattage, in color temperatures from amber to super bright white, to blue. We also have HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights that are 2-3 times brighter than halogens and more vibration resistant. Unlike halogen bulbs that create light by heating a filament, in HID bulbs an arc is passed between 2 electrodes inside the bulb that ignites xenon or metal halide gas. Halogen and HID bulbs are commonly used individually in round and rectangular lights with parabolic reflectors. But as you can see, the vast majority of our lights develop their illumination using powerful, efficient, and durable LEDs.
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are semiconductors that produce light when current is applied. They last far longer than other lights, as much as 50,000 hours or more, so they rarely require replacement, and since they’re unaffected by shock and vibration, they’re perfect for off-road use. They consume the least amount of power of any type of light, so you can mount as many lights as you want without straining your electrical system. We have lights with single LEDs and parabolic reflectors, but because their small size and cooler operation allows LED bulbs to be easily grouped together, they are far more commonly used in lights with multiple LEDs. Another benefit to this diminutive size is that the light itself can be made small, so you can fit lights in spaces you never thought possible.
In addition to the more traditionally shaped and sized halogen and HID off-road lights, our LED lights are available in pods, cubes, round housings, and of course, single, double, and quad row light bars. We offer lights that are perfect for mounting almost anywhere on your rig, including the bumper, in front of the grille, in the hood area, windshield frame and A-pillar, and roof. For select applications we have vehicle-specific light kits that not only ease installation, but give your off-roader a pro-built, trail-ready look. We also have a large selection of mounts, brackets, and light bars to help you quickly get your lights mounted and functioning. And because we know there can also be hazards out on the water, we carry LED lights specifically designed for marine applications.
We also offer lights for special applications, including infrared lights to enhance night vision, which are ideal for military, law enforcement, and security use. But the brightest and most perfect beam of light is worthless if it fails as soon as the trail gets rough. All of the brands we carry know that off-road lights have to function in an environment that’s far more demanding than smooth paved streets, and construct their products accordingly, with rugged housings and lenses, moisture-proof electrical connections, and vibration-resistant mountings. Our light bars have rugged aluminum alloy housings with corrosion-resistant finishes. All lights are rigorously tested to make sure they can handle whatever torture the trail and the elements can throw at them.
