Universal Brake Control Test Box by CURT®. Tests brake control function, short circuits and trailer disconnect. A lot depends on your brake control functioning properly. There are thousands of pounds to be managed and brought to a halt every time you stop your truck and trailer. The CURT brake control tester box is an advanced safety measure designed specifically for testing the functions of brake control units. A brake controller is a powerful and sophisticated tool, but as with any tool, it is important to inspect it once in a while. The CURT brake control tester tests the brake activation function of a brake control by showing the voltage output while braking. It also checks brake light activation, short circuit protection and disconnect notification.

Installation

CURT® - Brake Control Test Box Installation Instructions

The CURT brake control tester is compatible with time-based and inertia-based brake controls and is equipped with a quick plug connector to plug into any CURT brake control. Testing your brake control unit with the CURT brake control tester is easy, and does not require the control to be hooked up to your vehicle or trailer. Simply plug the 12V cord into any standard 120V wall socket, hook up your brake control unit using the quick plug connector, and you are ready to begin.

The voltmeter on the brake control tester box will display the brake control's voltage output to ensure proper braking power for your trailer, and the red brake button on the tester will allow you to check the brake control's response without actually hooking up your vehicle for towing. The brake control tester box also features a brake lamp indicator for brake controls with brake light activation, a short circuit / overload protection button, allowing you to test the brake control's response to adverse electrical situations, as well as a disconnect test to ensure that your brake control will properly notify you of a vehicle-trailer disconnect. Whatever your brake control of choice - the CURT TriFlex, Reflex, Discovery or Venturer - and whatever heavy-duty cargo you choose to tow, the CURT brake control tester box lets you Bring It.

Use this connector to attach your brake controller to the vehicle’s brake wiring harness under the dash. Mount the brake controller under the dash. Connect the four wires to the brake controller: one for power, one for ground, one for the brake signal from the vehicle, and one for the output of the controller to the trailer with butt crimp connectors (not included) Plug the harness into the vehicle harness under the left-hand dashboard, and your trailer brake controller is connected.

Each of the warranty coverage periods runs from the date of purchase of the product (proof of purchase is required) and applies only to warranted defects that first occur and are reported to CURT within the applicable warranty period. CURT retains the right to determine to its reasonable satisfaction whether any claimed defect is covered by this Limited Warranty.

Certain items are excluded from Limited Warranty coverage by CURT, and this Limited Warranty coverage does not apply to:

Wear and tear from normal use, including damage from road debris
Improper product selection, application, installation or maintenance
Modifications, including the attachment of other hardware or components
Misuse, abuse, overloading, improper trailering or hauling, accident
Corrosion or damage due to environmental conditions

CURT has no responsibility or liability for any incidental or consequential damages, such as loss of use of vehicles or trailers, towing charges, storage charges, tire damage, labor and service charges for removing or reinstalling products, loss of or damage to personal property, or interest or finance charges, all of which are specifically excluded and disclaimed from this Limited Warranty.

Easy to Use, Does the Job.

I bought this because I lack the skills and energy to install a hard-wired controller and like the fact that I can use it on any properly wired vehicle. I found it very easy to use though overall.

Shipping

It took a long time for the wiring kit to get here. This not the fault of CARiD but rather of the manufacturer. I contacted CURT ,t5he manufacturer and they said the wire kit was in stock but it was back ordered for several weeks. and I had no way of connecting up the control. CARiD did a good job of keeping us posted on what was going on. Good job
