The Chevy Uplander was a minivan that came out in 2005 to replace Chevrolet’s previous model of this class – the Chevrolet Venture. With the Uplander the company’s engineers aimed to revitalize the public’s interest in Chevrolet’s vans with a new and more efficient engine, better safety system and overall construction, plus an integrated child seat in one of Uplander’s trim levels. The Uplander was kind of an experiment for Chevrolet as the company tried to become a serious player on the minivan market. The vans of this series had a more sophisticated and cozy interior than many of its competitors, and Uplander’s designers went for a more stylish and sporty look and feel of their creation. The vehicle was discontinued in 2009, with Chevrolet shifting their attention to other types of automobiles.
