Available Features

The industry currently offers a countless number of brands and models to choose from. Most of them deliver the same basic features and benefits, yet differ in design and may provide additional goodies, so purchasing the right CB radio goes beyond taking its price and look as the main consideration. Along with standard functions like squelch control, which prevents the user from constantly having to listen to static and only activates the speaker when a new transmission is received, CB radios may be PA capable, which makes it possible to amplify an operator's voice and transmit it to a crowd via an additional, usually externally mounted, horn or speaker. This and many other additional functions, like automatic noise reduction and RF gain, make your user experience more enjoyable.

Know Your Vehicle & Your Needs

When choosing a CB radio kit, there is one thing that cannot be overlooked. It is your antenna. While most CB radios provide a similar set of basic functions and level of operation, your CB antenna has a significant effect on your communication and user experience. The most crucial factor that determines the quality of an antenna is its operating range. Depending on the type of your antenna, it may vary from 2 to 10 miles or even more. Another key factor when it comes to choosing a CB radio antenna is the way of installation.

  • Fiberglass antennas are some of the most durable ones on the market, which makes them perfect for off-road use. That is the main reason why most owners of Jeeps and other 4x4 vehicles opt for them. They are versatile and can be mounted anywhere.
  • A magnetic mounted antenna can be installed on just about any plain metal surface and as high up as you need. It will be a great choice for pickup truck owners. Typically, it is centrally located on the top of a truck, so the driver can enjoy a clear signal without any directional bias.
  • Center-load (also known as trucker) antennas are commonly used on big rigs and semi-trucks. They have a very stiff metal shaft on the bottom. The coil is above that shaft. A steel whip goes up from there. Thanks to their construction, they offer a range of almost ten miles.
  • No-ground plane antennas can be installed on any vehicle without a lot of metal on its exterior.
  • They can be easily installed on a fiberglass RV or a four-wheeler with lots of plastic exterior parts.

NGP Antenna Kit for an Aluminum Body Ford.
We are using an aluminum body F-150 for a pilot car vehicle. The regular CB antenna was not getting any range. Installed the Firestick NGP kit and now we have lots of CB range and its working perfectly.

I Tried
I have HOA issues but can set up temporarily things so I bought a tripod made myself a telescopic mast out of different sizes of EMT so I figured I would try this 12 foot antenna I did not expect it to work as good as an IMAX or penetrator, but figured it would be a little better than the quarter wave ground plane that I made out of 102 inch whips since it has an extra 3 feet I also ordered the groundplane kit for elements for this antenna because I read online that people were having issues with ground plane, but my homemade antenna made from five 102“ stainless steel whips out performs it by quite a bit local skip basically in every way band with wise if you need a small antenna do yourself a favor and just make a quarter wave ground plane out of four or five 102 inch whips it is better. If it’s not a size thing just grab one of the bigger better and tennis 18 to 26 feet thumbs down. Mac K 224 Southern New Hampshire.
