Another key factor when it comes to choosing a CB radio antenna is the way of installation.
- Fiberglass antennas are some of the most durable ones on the market, which makes them perfect for off-road use. That is the main reason why most owners of Jeeps and other 4x4 vehicles opt for them. They are versatile and can be mounted anywhere.
- A magnetic mounted antenna can be installed on just about any plain metal surface and as high up as you need. It will be a great choice for pickup truck owners. Typically, it is centrally located on the top of a truck, so the driver can enjoy a clear signal without any directional bias.
- Center-load (also known as trucker) antennas are commonly used on big rigs and semi-trucks. They have a very stiff metal shaft on the bottom. The coil is above that shaft. A steel whip goes up from there. Thanks to their construction, they offer a range of almost ten miles.
