Though carburetor spacers are not created equal material-wise, they all serve two main purposes. They have an insulation effect, protecting the carb from engine heat to reduce the temperature of the air and fuel, and add more power. Some consider carburetor spacers to be the cheapest and quickest means of gaining horsepower. Located between the carb and intake manifold plenum, the carburetor spacer lengthens the distance between them, helping straighten out the mixture to increase its velocity. Carb spacers improve fuel atomization and make it more oxygenated, resulting in more efficient combustion. They increase top-end power while sacrificing some low-end torque, which is, however, not critical in high-revving engines.

Spacers are typically made out of aluminum, polymer, phenolic resin, and wood covered with a resin-like seal. Wood is a good insulator and an easy-to-shape material, but it falls short of resistance to chemicals, which makes its service life too short. While aluminum and polymer possess weaker insulation capabilities, they make a spacer more durable. Phenolic carb spacers yield to wood spacers in insulation qualities but are good at resistance to fuel and chemicals instead. We have a full range of carburetor spacers for you to choose from, sourced from brands that know what quality is all about.
