The Cadillac STS was introduced in 2005. The STS name stands for Seville Touring Sedan, and the car originates from a performance-oriented variation of the Seville that was marketed through the late 80s and the early 90s. The STS became Cadillac’s flagship model intended for the markets where the full-sized DTS wasn’t available. Despite the STS was positioned between the CTS and the DTS on the North American market, it was priced above the two. In 2007, the second generation of the car was launched. It obtained a new appearance with styling cues resembling the 2008 CTS, refreshed interior and restyled steering wheel, and an updated powertrain options list. Because of constantly descending sales, the STS was discontinued in 2011 on the U.S. and other markets except for the Chinese, where it was offered for two more years.
