The Cadillac Fleetwood is a lineup of luxury vehicles that were in production from 1984 to 1999. The name refers to the beginning of the 20th century, when the Fleetwood Metal Body Company was founded. It was specialized in coachbuilding and gained a good reputation on the automotive arena thanks to exclusively-designed car bodies it created. By the end of the 20th century, GM, Cadillac’s parent company, purchased all stock holdings of the Fleetwood. After that, most Cadillac models had an exclusive Fleetwood body as an option. Since 1977, this nameplate was used as a part of the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham series name. Eventually, in 1985, the Fleetwood became a freestanding model.
